Village Employee Killed in Accident
Del Burns, 52, died Monday at Loyola University Medical Center.
are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a village public works employee.
Leroy “Del” Burns, 52, died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle earlier in the day.
Police said the accident happened around 9 a.m. in the 1800 block of Sierra Trail.

Burns was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital before being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the police department.
The village was notified of Burns' death at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday, the release said.

“The Village of Romeoville expresses its deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Leroy (Del) Burns,” the village said in the statement.
According to a Facebook page listed as belonging to Burns, he was a 1978 graduate of . The page lists Burns as a village employee since 1980.
