I gotta tell ya, Lallo's is PHENOMENAL. Somehow they found a way to move a big-city, Five-Star Chef right into the heart of Channahon, Illinois. When my wealthy, big-city friends from Chicago and New Jersey visit? That's where I take 'em.
It's in an old building, the tables are cramped and the floors are slightly off-level. The parking lot is gravel and the window-views are either non-existent or terrible. But the employees are world-class, your fellow patrons will be neighborly and the food is as good as can be found anywhere.
If planning to order a dinner ya best not start with an appetizer, because ya might just get too full to eat your meal. The chicken-livers, frog legs, stuffed jalapena peppers and stuffed mushrooms are my favorites. But if you do plan to order a meal, take your time to choose. Have a beer and think about it a while. There are so many entrees on the menu you'd think they have a "specialty." Maybe they do. But everything I've ever ordered was so perfect, it's hard to guess what they do best.
And dag-gum it, to make matters worse, they deliver! So if you toss a couple beers at home and can't drive to them, Lallo's will bring their food right to your front door! Enjoy and give 'em a try, you'll be glad you did.
