Patch Poll: Tell Us What You Think about More Gun Control Laws

The debate has been charged as restrictions on certain types of guns, background checks for gun buyers and other gun-related issues come under scrutiny.

With the battle over gun control issues heating up, we're wondering where you fall on some of the key points being debated. The 2nd Amendment right to bear arms was written at a time when American colonists were under oppression, were anticipating a war to win freedom from a tyrannical government and carried weapons that could fire just one shot before having to be reloaded with gun powder. I said the other day that new laws weren't the answer if our state doesn't enforce current laws. I also provided a link about how far behind our state was in providing info on mentally ill people to the fed database, enabling them to pass background checks. Here's something I read in today's Sun Times: The governor also is expected to push circuit clerks across the state to more thoroughly report…   more ›

Residents Reminded to Abide by the Village's Watering Restriction Rules

Watering is allowed in Romeoville every other day between prescribed morning and evening hours; village provides watering tips.

With the hot weather expected to continue through the coming week, the village of Romeoville is reminding residents that summer water conservation restrictions are in place through Sept. 10. Between the hours of 6 and 9 a.m. and 7 and 10 p.m., residents who have addresses ending in even numbers may water on even number calendar days. Addresses ending in odd numbers may water on odd number calendar days. People with newly sodded and seeded lawns must obtain a village permit allowing for watering every day for 14 days with the prescribed hours. To obtain a permit, call the Public Works Department at 815-886-1870. Lawn Watering Tips

Of course the fireworks went off until midnight last night in Wesglen. So you can fine me for watering but where it is obvious an illegal action is occurring you are completely ignorant. Great job to you. If someone's property is damaged by a fire or worse yet someone is injured or dies I think the village is liable given the contributory negligence of not enforcing exitsing laws. Good luck with …   more ›
