The following property crimes were reported to the Romeoville Police Department: Several pieces of jewelry, a purse, tote, food, X-box and damaged a flat screen television, valued at a total of $18,074, taken from a residence in the 200 block of South Highpoint Drive. Burglary report made at 11:48 a.m. Jan. 8. A bottle of alcohol valued at $49.17 taken from a business in the 400 block of Weber Road. Retail theft report made at 8:08 p.m. Jan. 8. An unknown item used to smash the window of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 300 block of Aster Court. Damage estimated at $110; vandalism report made at 3:17 p.m. Jan. 9. Daniel, this is the information police release to the media. You'd have to ask them yourself, but my guess is the police will tell you they lack the manpower to alert neighbors about break-ins and rely on neighbors to get the word out.
