Man Armed with Gun/Bayonet-Type Weapon Robs 7-Eleven, Police Say

The alleged robber got away with several hundred dollars but was apprehended just a short time later, Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said.

A Romeoville man armed with a makeshift gun/bayonet-type weapon stole several hundred dollars from the 7-Eleven store on Romeo Road, Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. Ronald Maxwell Lacy, 21, of 942 E. Savannah, is accused of entering the store shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday and pointing a gun with a knife taped to the barrel at the clerk, Lucchesi said. Lacy did not speak, but the clerk understood it to be a robbery, opened the cash register and gave him the money inside, Lucchesi said. Lacy then fled on foot. The employee was able to give Romeoville police a description of the suspect, and a short time later officers spotted Lacy in the 200 block of Gordon Avenue, just a block away from the 235 Romeo Road store, Lucchesi said. …
