Saw It on eBay: Lewis Shoes Matchbook Cover

Check out this piece of Joliet memorabilia, which advertised a downtown Joliet business and has a starting bid of $3.99.

Remember when there used to be shoe stores in downtown Joliet? Or, for that matter, that shoe stores would hand out matchbooks as a form of adverstisement? OK, we don't either, but here's proof positive that they once did -- and it's being auctioned on eBay at a starting price of $3.99. This matchbook cover advertises Lewis Bros. Shoes, "Home of the Happy Feet," which was located at 116 N. Chicago St., one of the storefronts that are part of the Rialto Square Theatre building. You've got to love that one of the store's bragging points is, "We Fit Feet By X-Ray -- The Only Perfect Way." As of Sunday night, there are no bidders but the auction doesn't end until the night of March 10. Shipping is $2. Click here to see the auction description …
