Joliet Man Dead after Car Goes into Creek
Crews responded to a report of a vehicle upside down in Lily Cache Creek near Route 30. The identity of the victim was not being released Monday afternoon.
A Joliet man was killed Monday when his Mercedes went into the Lily Cache Creek in Plainfield and landed on its roof, police said. The Will County Coroner's office identified the man as George C. Weathered, 30, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 a.m. Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle in the water shortly after 7 a.m. The car was in the creek about 100 yards south of the bridge near the 16300 block of Route 30/Lincoln Highway, Stratton said.
