Yes or No: Concealed Carry Law in Illinois?

Those who voted before 2 p.m. Tuesday read a version that was more speculative about a concealed-carry law in Illinois. Today, a U.S. appeals court has ruled that Illinois' ban on carrying a weapon in public is unconstitutional. The General Assembly has given the state 180 days in which to "craft a new gun law that will impose reasonable limitations, consistent with the public safety and the Second Amendment as interpreted in this opinion, on the carrying of guns in public." Illinois GOP Holds First Online Straw Poll

Area Republicans also have the option of voting in person at selected polling sites this Saturday.

With the early stages of the 2012 presidential election already unfolding in the nation's primary states, Illinois Republicans are hoping to make an impact of their own. The Illinois GOP launched its first-ever online straw poll Oct. 29 to give voters an opportunity to let their voices be heard prior to the presidential primary in March. Through 7 p.m. Saturday, Illinois residents can cast their vote on the straw poll website — after making a $5 contribution.
