Joliet police initially stopped Eric Gates because his passenger had an outstanding warrant, but quickly discovered they'd nabbed a much larger fish, Cmdr. Rich Demick said.
You can drive away or run away but it's unlikely you'll t get away, as two misguided criminal suspects discovered Thursday. Eric L. Gates, 33, of Chicago, was pulled over by police at about 8:15 p.m. when an officer observed the passenger in Gate's car and determined she was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said. Gates stopped momentarily in the 900 block of Jefferson Street but when his passenger, Gailyn L. Davis, hopped out of the car and took off on foot, Gates decided to hit the gas and flee, Demick said. Neither got very far. Davis, 25, who lists addresses of 618 Briggs St. and 1118 Parkwood Drive, both in Joliet, was apprehended just a few yards away and Gates made it to Jefferson and William …
