Candidates Vie For Illinois House, Senate Seats

Monday was the last day for candidates to file petitions to be on the March 20 primary election ballot. Here's a look at those who filed from local state senate and house districts.

Updated: 2:04 a.m. Dec. 6 With the first day of filing on Monday, Nov. 28, the 2012 election season is officially under way. Here's a look at candidates who have filed for state senate and house races in the March 20, 2012 primary. Filing ended at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5. Included are districts that touch on all or portions of Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Shorewood, Joliet, Crest Hill, Lockport and Oswego. The candidates include those for the new 98th State House of Representatives District and the new 49th State Senate District. If you’re not sure which districts you’re in, check the State Board of Elections website. An asterisk (*) indicates that the candidate is an incumbent. Residents Will Vote on Whether to Seek Cheaper Electricity

Referendum authorizing the village to take part in electric aggregation plan will be on March 20, 2012 primary ballot.

When you head to the polls next primary season, you won’t just be casting a ballot to pick your party’s candidates. You can also vote to move one step closer to lowering your electric bill. On Wednesday, trustees voted to place a referendum on the March 20, 2012 primary ballot asking voters for the authority to seek bids from power providers other than ComEd in the interest of locking in lower rates for residential and non-industrial customers. Romeoville is one of more than a dozen members of the Will County Governmental League looking into electric aggregation, which means combining the electrical loads of each community, with the league acting as a broker to try to secure the best rate for residents.
