Two months after announcing its search for a new superintendent, the District 202 Board of Education will meet tomorrow in special session to appoint John Harper’s successor. Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 plans to ask the Will and Kendall County clerks for $197,866,981 in local property taxes (including bond and interest) through the district’s 2012 levy. The Board will hold a public hearing on the levy, as required by law, at its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the district administrative center, 15732 Howard St., Plainfield. The board is expected to vote on the proposed 2012 levy later during the same meeting. The proposed 2012 levy request is about 20 percent higher than the 2011 extension of $164,889,151 (including bond and interest). Someone was able to log in to Plainfield schools employment application database and send a mass email to job hunters.
As the police and FBI work to determine who was able to hack his or her way into District 202’s online job application system — as well as how much information was compromised — the school district urging is community members to take steps to minimize their own risk of falling victim to identity theft. On Saturday, past District 202 job applicants received what the district called a “highly offensive and inappropriate email” from someone who was able to use an authorized username and password to access the district’s job application database and send the mass email. District 202 spokesman said officials are still working with the company that owns the website to determine the extent of the breach, but said no social security numbers were compromised.
Updated, 10:50 a.m. Oct. 15: A representative of Apex Solutions, the company that owns the job application website used by District 202, on Monday said the security breach happened when someone used an authorized District 202 acount to access the district's employment application database. "AppliTrack was not hacked," Keith Westman, Apex's vice president of sales and marketing, said in an email. "Someone used an authorized Plainfield 202 username and password to access their database of employment applications to send an obscene email." Tom Novinski will fill the shoes of former Principal Ed Boswell at the District 202 school.
On Monday, the District 202 Board of Education named Tom Novinski as the new principal at Ira Jones Middle School. Novinski, who has been the assistant principal at Ira Jones since 2007, replaces Ed Boswell, who was recently named the district’s new director for middle school administration and personnel. Novinski, a former seventh- and eighth-grade math teacher at Heritage Grove Middle School and dean of students at Ira Jones Middle School, was named the assistant principal of the year in 2011 by the Illinois Principals Association. “It is a true honor to be the next principal of Ira Jones Middle School,” Novinski said. “I look forward to building upon the successes of Ira Jones through continual work with the staff, our students and …

The District 202 Board of Education approved hiring Tina Radomsky as the district’s new director for English Language Learner (ELL) programming. She replaces Linda Hoste, who accepted a new position out of state. Radomsky has served as principal of Mount Vernon Community School in Alexandria, Virginia since 2010.
