Pair Busted in Joliet Drug House Raid; Huge Amount of Pot Found

This is the third drug-growing operation to be uncovered in the Joliet-Plainfield area through investigations conducted by the DEA and Plainfield police.

For the third time in as many weeks, police and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents busted an alleged local marijuana-dealing operation, this time in Joliet. Plainfield police arrested Randy Mota, 28, and Nicole Mota, 26, following a Tuesday raid at their 6512 Roth Drive home, and recovered 71 cannabis plants and 18 pounds of loose cannabis, Plainfield Sgt. Mike Fisher said. The drugs have a street value of more than $250,000, he said. Fisher said a Plainfield officer who works with the Chicago branch of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency helped uncover the operation. The Joliet Police Department participated in the raid, but served only as backup for the DEA and Plainfield police, Joliet Cmdr. Rich Demick said. Because it was not a …

Your article says smoking weed is more harmful than tobacco, which is obviously one sidedly written and wrong, @Deborah Halley. It also says not one thing about the numerous truths related to eating/vaporizing cannabis. I personally suffer from anxiety, psychosis from PTSD, and bipolar (NOS). I medically cry for help and have been on every pharmaceutical put on the market from 1999-2010. In that …   more ›

Police on Massive Plainfield Marijuana Grow Operation: 'He Had to Have Help'

Plainfield police said the Tipperary Lane was "strictly a grow house." Quy Doan, 30, of Romeoville is charged in connection with the drug operation, and the investigation is ongoing.

It took a crew of 20 men and more than eight hours to break down what police called an “extensive,” million-dollar marijuana grow operation at a house in Plainfield’s King’s Crossing subdivision Tuesday. In the end, Plainfield police and Drug Enforcement Administration agents seized 118 marijuana plants — some three to four feet tall — plus 65 pounds of loose marijuana and 178 ecstasy pills from the home at 12914 Tipperary Ln., according to Plainfield Sgt. Mike Fisher. Sign up for the Plainfield Patch newsletter and get local news delivered straight to your inbox. Those numbers were higher than the initial report released Wednesday by police, who searched the home, believed to be a marijuana greenhouse operated by 30-year-old Quy Doan, for…

Police Talk Turkey: Stay Sober This Thanksgiving

Drivers advised to buckle up, watch their drinking over the holiday.

Editor's note: The following is from press releases issued by the Plainfield Police Department and Will County Sheriff's Department: Thanksgiving can be a dangerous time for motorists, especially unbelted ones — during the day or at night.  The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Plainfield police are reminding everyone who will be out on the roadways this holiday season to drive carefully and defensively, do not drive impaired and, most importantly, buckle up. To lose a loved one is a terrible thing to experience, especially during the holidays. But to lose one’s life, when it might have been saved by taking two seconds to buckle a seat belt, is truly senseless, Plainfield Traffic Sgt. Eric Munson said in a press release…

Plainfield Police Rescue Naked Romeoville Man from DuPage River

The man, who was reported missing earlier in the day, was taken to a hospital for a mental and physical evaluation, police said.

A missing Romeoville man was rescued by Plainfield police Saturday afternoon after taking a nude swim in the DuPage River. Sgt. Mike Fisher said the man, who reportedly suffers from mental health issues, was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for a physical and mental evaluation after spending a short time in the icy water. Though it was about 60 degrees Saturday afternoon, the water was cold enough to cause hypothermia, police said. “It’s not real cold to be outside, but the water is cold,” Fisher said. Fisher said a woman was walking her dog along a pedestrian bridge behind the Animal Care Center of Plainfield when she spotted the man wading into the river east of Route 59. The woman told police the man responded and said …

Other teams taking the field during the Jan. 21 event at St. Joe's Park in Joliet were the Joliet, Lockport and Will County Sheriff's departments. “We do it every year,” Romeoville Officer Gary Augustine said of the annual Softball in the Snow tournament.
