Meet WonTon! She is a gorgeous 5-year-old Maine Coon mix that joined the Romeoville Humane Society in February. She was surrendered by her owner when he was unable to afford the cost of the cystotomy to remove a magnesium stone from her bladder. WonTon has made a full recovery, and is anxious to find a family to call her own. She will need to be on a special diet the rest of her life. The vet recommended two different foods that are sold at many veterinarian offices with a prescription. The preferred choice is Royal Canin and the secondary choice is Hill’s Prescription. She should also drink distilled water. Placing her on this special diet greatly decreases the risk of a reoccurring stone. WonTon is a gentle, easy-going cat that gets …

Sunday, September 4, 2011
With other area animal shelters too full to take her, Gizmo has found a temporary home with a Romeoville Humane Society volunteer after being found wandering around during a bad wind storm. Now, the eight-month-old kitten is safe in a foster home with a new brother and sister — and she's decided she rules the roost, according to humane society volunteers. Gizmo is usually the first one at the food bowl and the last to leave, so she would benefit from a family that feeds its animals on a regular schedule. Gizmo's adoption fee is $150, including her spaying, vaccinations, microchip implant, fecal test and feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus tests. The Romeoville Humane Society is a volunteer-run animal rescue. Before they are …

My name is Princess Leia, and I have lived up to the "princess" part. I've been called a marble grey tabby, and what that means to me is that I'm beautiful. I don't have regular tabby stripes — mine are more like spots. I have beautiful brown eyes, which really stand out. I'm about 17 weeks old as of the Fourth of July. I love everyone — adults, kids, dogs, other cats, you name it. I am currently being fostered with my siblings, the Star Wars Kittens (me, Chewie, Luke and Binks). I would thrive in any environment — only cat, multi-cat, multi-pet, and I love kids. I’m a kitten who has no fear, so I adjust very quickly to any environment. I'm a talker, too! I'll talk your ear off if you want to listen. My foster mom is trying to teach me …

My name is Walley. I am a fit and active 1-year-old domestic short hair tabby. Please take me home and enjoy my company. I will train you to be the center of center of my universe. You will not keep any secrets from me, as I keep watch from top to bottom of my foster home. I get along well with other cats and stick my nose up at dogs and ignore them. I do not have any experience with small people yet, so my foster parents don't know how well I would do around kids. Please give me a chance. If you are interested in meeting me, call 877-813-7300. All humane society cats are tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus prior to being adopted. The Romeoville Humane Society is a volunteer-run animal rescue. Before they are …

Kofi is as exuberant and as full of energy as his namesake, WWE superstar Kofi Kingston. He is a beautiful brindle 2-year-old American Staffordshire terrier/German shepherd mix. Kofi loves playing his version of fetch in the yard and going on long walks around the neighborhood. He also loves playing tug with his foster parents, and he can even amuse himself by throwing him toys and chew bones in the air and catching them! He was rescued in the nick of time from animal control just seven minutes before he was to be euthanized. Kofi gets along well with the two pugs in his foster home, a male and a female. He needs a fenced yard and a loving home with no small children or cats. Kofi is good with most dogs, but he should meet any prospective …

Both Aby, a dilute tortie, and Jazmine, an orange tabby, are 9 months old. Jazmine is sweet and a “bundle of fluffy joy,” according to humane society volunteers. She is spunky and loves to play all day with other kitties or children. She loves pretty much everyone and does not mind dogs as long as they respect her space. After a long, hard day of playing and bringing smiles to those around her, all Jazmine wants to do is sit next to her favorite human for some good snuggle time. She would make a happy addition to any family and would thrive with kids who want to play and pamper. Aby is the ideal lap cat. This sweet little girl would love nothing more then to curl up on your lap and have you rub her chin. Although her favorite pastime is …

Diamond is a female cat who would do well in a home with older people.
Named for the diamond-shaped black spot on her mostly white face, Diamond is a very sweet cat — albeit on the chubby side, according to her foster mom. Her family says she would make a great companion for just about anybody, and she enjoys sitting next to her humans on the couch. Diamond's adoption fee is $125, including her spaying, vaccinations, fecal test and feline immunodeficiency virus test and feline leukemia test. The Romeoville Humane Society is a volunteer-run animal rescue. Before they are adopted, pets are spayed or neutered and receive all shots and a microchip identification implant. For more information or to fill out an adoption form, visit the organization's website or e-mail info@romeovillehumanesociety.org.

Onyx is one of the sweetest pit bulls you'll ever meet. He is around 2 years old, with a very soft, dark brown (almost black) coat. His ears are cropped but his tail is natural and he always seems to be wagging it. Onyx was a stray found outside of a school. He must have been a family pet before, because he loves children and seems to think he's a lap dog—all 60 odd pounds of him! He is in a foster home now with four boys and two female pit bull mixes. Onyx loves playing and going for walks or jogging. He is not dog aggressive but he will try to chase squirrels. He plays well with children, but because he is so strong and gets very excited, he might do better in a home with children over age 7. Tug-of-war is his very favorite game and he …

“Dunky” is a sweet pooch who likes to cuddle.
Duncan, dubbed "Dunky" by his foster mom, is a 2-year-old Shiba Inu mix. After spending the past four months in a local pound, Duncan weighs about 20 pounds. According to his foster family, Duncan is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle on the couch. He gets along with his four foster "sisters" and "brothers" but does not like to share his food with his sister Lucy, a boxer. Duncan loves spending time with his foster mom and dad and loves to go wherever they go. He is great with people once he warms up to them and would do best in a home with older children. His adoption fee of $200 includes his shots, neutering, vaccinations, microchip and fecal test. The Romeoville Humane Society is a volunteer-run animal rescue. Before they are adopted, pets…
