White House Answers Patch Reader's Question

Plainfield native Dylan Schrock was one of just six Patch readers from around the country whose question was selected to be answered by the office of the POTUS.

In January, the White House Office of Digital Strategy reached out to Patch to get questions from its users.  One of the responses chosen was from Dylan Schrock, a Plainfield native now living in Ann Arbor, MI, who asked President Obama's office, "While you seek to punish those responsible for the sub-prime mortgage crisis, will you pursue those in positions in the federal government and federal agencies who had an impact, or will you simply pursue those in private financial sector?" In the video above, you can see the response from National Economic Council Deputy Director Brian Deese. "The president's approach to the housing crisis and the financial crisis is designed to be comprehensive and to seek out wrongdoing wherever it happened, …

What Did You Think of the Drew Peterson Lifetime Movie?

Lifetime debuted "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" last night. What did you think?

Now's not the time to awkwardly deny you watch Lifetime movies, not when the channel's most recent flick was about Bolingbrook's own, Drew Peterson. Lifetime debuted "Drew Peterson: Untouchable" last night. The film stars Rob Lowe as Peterson, the disgraced ex-Bolingbrook cop who is accused of killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in March 2004. The movie has been in the works for nearly a year and is based off of Shorewood Patch Editor Joseph Hosey's book Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Drew Peterson. Patch movie critic Dave Wilson said the movie "remains true to the real-life saga, which is a relief." He goes on: After all, you can’t get much weirder than what we can only imagine really happened to Drew’s third and fourth wives. Rob …

State Sen. Wilhelmi Says He'll No Longer Offer Legislative Scholarships

Lawmakers can award eight one-year waivers, four two-year waivers, or two four-year waivers each year.

Illinois State Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi, D-Joliet, has announced he will no longer participate in the controversial Legislative Tuition Waiver Program. According to an Associated Press report, nearly half of the members of state lawmakers have chosen not to participate in a program, which lets legislators waive state college tuition for selected students in their districts. Lawmakers can award eight one-year waivers, four two-year waivers, or two four-year waivers each year.  "For the past several months, I have been debating whether to continue awarding legislative scholarships to college-bound students who live in the 43rd District," Wilhelmi said in a release. "In the end, I decided that the problems with the program outweigh its benefits." …

I am senior at Northeast High School which Fabby is the current principal. I feel as if he is just trying to prevent his past from becoming a repeat, but the way he treats us as students is only going to lead down the same road. Also from what is being told around campus is that he is going to cut 20 percent of teachers at Northeast with in the next couple of weeks. I feel that is unfair due to …   more ›
