The Italian restaurant will offer dine-in, carryout and delivery from its Route 30 location, according to owner Rick DiPego.
After one family owned eatery closed its doors, another is preparing to take its place. Fat Ricky’s is scheduled to open this week at 13717 Route 30, filling the space vacated by RoSal’s this summer. Owner Rick DiPego said the restaurant, which specializes in pizza and pasta, should be up and running by mid-week. Final inspections of the newly remodeled restaurant are scheduled for Monday. “It’ll be a warm, comfortable, family, neighborhood establishment,” said DiPego, who was the restaurant business in his blood. “We’ve had a family pizzeria in Arlington Heights since 1963,” he said, adding his business motto is “Serving satisfied families since 1963.” DiPego is also a cousin of the owners of RoSal’s, which still has a location on Taylor…

A look at new businesses coming into town and a fond farewell to those that have, for whatever reason, called it quits — and other business developments.
A vacant Romeoville storefront will get new life when a new ice cream shop opens in a Weber Road shopping center. A coming soon sign in the former China China location at 648 S. Weber advertises the upcoming opening of a Dairy Queen Orange Julius franchise. Mayor John Noak said the franchise owners have secured their building permits to complete renovations, but haven't set an opening date yet. "We don't have a definitive timeline," Noak said, adding the franchise isn't Romeoville's first. A standalone DQ — minus the Orange Julius — is located at 29 Alexander Circle. According to Noak, the same franchisees are behind the new location. An employee at the Alexander Circle business said the owners were not available for comment on Monday. The…
