Electric Daisy Carnival, a Huge 3-Day Music/Dance Fest, Coming to Joliet

The event, combining music, carnival rides and performers, could bring as many as 300,000 people to Chicagoland Speedway over Memorial Day weekend.

Electric Daisy Carnival, which is billed as the largest electronic dance music event in the country, will take over Joliet's Chicagoland Speedway Memorial Day weekend for three days of music, light shows, carnival rides and camping. What started as a one-day music festival in Los Angeles in 1997 is now a three-day, "carnival-themed" extravaganza that "features full-size carnival rides, art installations, hundreds of costume-clad performers, and the largest stage built in North America," according to the festival's Facebook page. Its home site is now the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the three-day event more than 300,000 people annually, but festival sites around the country have been added annually as the show has grown in popularity. …

Gas Guide: Memorial Day Weekend Edition

Patch rounds up the best prices at area gas stations.

Prices finally dropped below $4, just in time for your Memorial Day travels. Here’s a roundup of area fuel prices as listed by the AAA Fuel Price Finder.  Bolingbrook’s Food 4 Less, 271 Bolingbrook Drive, had the Romeoville area’s cheapest gas, at $3.97 per gallon. The two Boughton Road Speedway stations were slightly more expensive at $4 per gallon.  Gas was also below $4 at Thornton’s at Weber and Renwick, selling for $3.99 per gallon. Across the street at Phillips 66, gas was at $4.03. On Friday, the cheapest gas in Romeoville could be found at the Dominick’s gas station, 435 N. Weber, at $4.04 per gallon. The average gas price in Chicago was $4.26, compared with the Illinois average of $4.06  and the national average of $3.79, …
