December Home Sales Up 47% Over Last Year

The 2012 December house sale prices are also up by about 15 percent over what houses were selling for in the same month in 2011, statistics show.

The 31 detached, single-family homes sold in Romeoville during December represented a 47.6 percent increase over December 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). There were 28 homes sold in Romeoville during November. The median price of homes sold in December ($140,000) also represented an increase, rising 14.8 percent compared to the median price of homes sold a year ago ($122,000).  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout Will and Kendall counties saw growth in December, MORe reported. Romeoville November Home Sales 22% Higher than a Year Ago

The median amount houses are selling was more than 10 percent higher as well.

The 28 detached, single-family homes sold in Romeoville during November represented a nearly 22 percent increase over November 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). In addition, the median price of homes sold in November ($143,000) was 10.1 percent higher than the median price of homes sold in November 2011 ($129,900).  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout Will and Kendall counties saw growth in November, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Plainfield saw the largest percent increase, with 73.6 percent more homes sold year over year in November. October 2012 House Sales Lower than a Year Ago

When comparing October 2011 to October 2012, the decline was 18 percent.

House sales in Romeoville dropped by 18 percent percent when comparing the October 2012 numbers to those tallied in October 2011. According to statistics provided by the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, there were 27 homes sold in the village last month compared to 33 in October 2011. However, there was a little good news. The median price went up by 2.5 percent, $122,000 to $125,000. Interestingly, the number of homes sold both month and last were exactly the same at 27, statistics show.  The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout Kendall and Will counties saw growth in October, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). Romeoville House Sales Decrease by Nearly 13% over Last Year's Numbers

Home prices are also down near 23 percent in September 2012 when compared to September 2011.

Home sales in the Chicago area during September were at a six-year high, according to a recent RE/MAX report, but the numbers are not reflected in the Romeoville residential market. While some towns saw as much as an 80 percent increase, the number of homes sold in Romeoville dropped by 12.9 percent in September 2012 over September 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). And worse, the average prices of the houses that did sell dropped by 22.9 percent, the numbers show. Only Bolingbrook fared worse in the comparison of house sales in the southwestern suburbs, with the number of homes sold falling 25.9 percent in September 2012 compared to September 2011.
