The tiny puppy snatched from a pet store in the Louis Joliet Mall Friday night has been returned safely, a store employee said Monday night. Krista Zarbock, who works for the Furry Babies store, was the first to sound the alarm about the theft of the 2-month-old blue chihuahua, contacting media outlets on Saturday and posting a note and photos on the Joliet Patch Facebook page. Although the details of the 1.5-pound female dog's return weren't available from police Monday night, Zarbock posted this note on Joliet Patch's Facebook site at about 10 p.m. Monday: "Our Chihuahua is safe!!! The chain is best known for its all-natural smoothies, juices and wheatgrass shots, but also serves some sandwich and salad options.
Joliet Jamba Juice junkies will no longer have to trek to Naperville or Orland Park to get a wheatgrass shot, Pomegranate Paradise smoothie or Orange Berry Antioxidant Juice fix. The California-based chain will be opening its doors on a new store inside the Louis Joliet Mall on Feb. 20, a company official confirmed this week. Mall marketing director Alysia Gordon said the Jamba Juice setup will be located in the food court, near the Earthbound Trading Co. store and close to the Cinemark Louis Joliet Mall movie theaters. Jamba Juice, based in California, was started in 1990 by Kirk Perron, a cyclist and healthy lifestyle advocate. The focus moved more toward smoothies when it was purchased in 1999 by Zuka Juice. The Joliet City Council issued a license for the Carson and Barnes Circus to put on shows Wednesday and Thursday at the Louis Joliet Mall.
A license that will allow Carson and Barnes to hold a circus in the parking lot of the Louis Joliet Mall was approved Monday by the Joliet City Council, just two days before the first show. It was a bit of a risk given that they've been advertising the Wednesday and Thursday performances before receiving the permit. The move could have irked the council and tempted them to say no, City Manager Tom Thanas acknowledged when questioned about it by the mayor. But the shows will go on, with the big top setting up in the parking lot between the Sears and Carson Pirie Scott stores. Performances will be held at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. both days. Admission is $16 for adults and $8 for children ages 3 to 11, with $4 off coupons available at the Carson …
