Drew Peterson Lawyer Fighting to Keep Financial Records Secret

The lawyer blamed for losing Drew Peterson's murder trial is resisting attempts to get at his financial records.

The lawyer representing Drew Peterson the longest before his unceremonious departure from the case is trying to keep his financial records out of the public eye. Attorney Joel Brodsky filed court papers to head off a subpoena for records of his financial dealings with Peterson. The lawyers still representing Peterson claim Brodsky blew what would have been a successful defense against charges Peterson murdered his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Brodsky did such a bad job, Peterson's attorneys contend, that the convicted wife-killer should get a new trial. Peterson's attorneys are trying to get their hands on Brodsky's financial records in hopes of showing Brodsky put his interest in making money in the media and entertainment industries ahead…

Drew Peterson Gets Date to Fight For New Murder Trial

A two-day hearing was set to determine whether wife-killer Drew Peterson will get another murder trial.

Drew Peterson's murder trial lasted 24 days. Now the wife-killer's looking forward to a two-day hearing to see if he gets to do the whole thing over again. Judge Edward Burmila scheduled the hearing for Feb. 19 and 20. If the judge decides after those two days not give Peterson a new hearing after all, Burmila said he will head straight to sentencing. Peterson, 59, faces up to 60 years in prison for the March 2004 murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Prosecutors have subpoenaed Peterson's second wife, Victoria Connolly, and one of his five sons, Eric Peterson, to testify against him at the sentencing hearing. Connolly has said Peterson threatened to kill her and make her death look like an accident. She also told of Drew Peterson …

Former Drew Peterson Lawyer Joel Brodsky Calls Current Lawyer Crazy

Joel Brodsky slapped back with a bizarre court filing just days after getting blamed for blowing the Drew Peterson case.

Last week, one of the lawyers working to get wife-killer Drew Peterson a new murder trial blamed attorney Joel Brodsky for blowing the case. On Monday, Brodsky slapped back, filing a court paper claiming former co-counsel Steve Greenberg "suffers from a severe mental illness." Mentally ill or not, Greenberg is still on Peterson's defense team. The same can't be said for Brodsky, who tearfully claimed in October that he was voluntarily withdrawing from the case. In last week's memorandum penned by Greenberg, which paints Brodsky as a delusional, petty, fame-hungry liar, it alleges that Brodsky was "discharged" from the defense team. Brodsky has followed his withdrawal—or discharge—from the criminal case by pulling out of a wrongful death …

It appears Joel is still swinging at the press. Keep writing, Joe Hosey! Joel Brodsky has been trying to knock you out of the picture for years. Watchful Eye- I'm assuming "another" is Brodsky's threat to expose Steven's true involvement in covering up Stacy's disappearance. I'm not saying Steven knew everything, just saying Drew pulled his son into helping him cover up everything. (knowingly or …   more ›

Drew Peterson's Bid For New Trial Says Lying Joel Brodsky Blew Case

The lawyers still representing wife-killer Drew Peterson say former defense counsel Joel Brodsky "single-handedly deprived Drew of his right to effective assistance."

A devastating 32-page court filing not only blames defense attorney Joel Brodsky for single-handedly blowing Drew Peterson's murder trial, but paints the lawyer as a delusional, petty, fame-hungry liar. "Attorney Brodsky expected that Drew Peterson would be his ticket to the legal elite," says the memorandum filed late Thursday. "Regrettably, he was poorly equipped to try a case of this magnitude, resulting in hornbook errors and a smorgasbord of ethical violations." The memorandum says "Brodsky single-handedly deprived Drew of his right to effective assistance" and claims Brodsky "lied to Peterson, misrepresenting his qualifications, going so far as to tell Peterson that he, Brodsky had successfully tried murder cases and other serious …

Peeing on each other! Wow! How satisfying is that to witness? Had my doubts that the Drewfus would be convicted, but lo and behold his attorneys did the work of the state. He had it all in Bolingbrook, and threw it all away. Gotta hurt! Now he has nothing but a handful of allegations to work with. And they will fool nobody. Greenberg had a hand in the bad representation. Might as well just quit …   more ›

Stacy Peterson Search Comes Up Empty As Feds & State Cops Pull Plug

The five day search for Stacy Peterson in Shorewood's Hammel Woods ended in failure.

After tromping through Hammel Woods for five days looking for missing mom Stacy Peterson, the FBI and Illinois State Police have called it quits. The massive FBI mobile command center set up in a parking lot off a Black Road entrance to Hammel Woods was gone by Friday afternoon and there was no sign of federal agents or state troopers lurking around the Shorewood forest preserve. District 5 state police spokeswoman DeAnn Falat failed to return calls Friday about the aborted search effort. Coroner Patrick O'Neil confirmed no remains were discovered during the week-long operation. The search attracted a great deal of attention, as a couple dozen agents and troopers showed up, put a boat in the water and poked around the park with dogs Monday…

Hammel Woods Search For Stacy Peterson: Day 4

Federal agents and Illinois State Police were back at it again in the Shorewood forest preserve Thursday.

For a supposedly routine search, the FBI and Illinois State Police are sure investing a lot of time, effort and money. A couple dozen federal agents and state troopers spent a fourth full day in Shorewood's Hammel Woods, poking around the park for some sign of missing mom Stacy Peterson. A state police source close to the five-year-old Stacy Peterson case said on Monday the operation was just one of numerous searches conducted periodically in locations investigators believe Stacy's body may have been left. But the agents and troopers—along with high-tech equipment and cadaver dogs—returned the next day, and then came back again Wednesday and Thursday, leaving many wondering just what exactly has been happening in Hammel Woods. Cable news …

Search For Stacy Peterson Day 3: FBI & ISP & A Dog

The FBI and the Illinois State Police spent a third straight day looking for Stacy Peterson in Shorewood's Hammel Woods Wednesday.

The search for Stacy Peterson in Shorewood's Hammel Woods entered its third day as federal agents and state troopers used a dog to hunt for the missing mother. The brown and white dog led a group of a half dozen FBI agents and state troopers—some armed with shovels—through the Shorewood park. The search party headed in the direction of the Hammel Woods dog park off Black Road. A state police source said on Monday that the search effort was nothing more than a routine operation. The agency conducts such searches periodically, the source said, and there was no tip or clue that prompted this week's endeavor. But when FBI agents and troopers returned for a second day Tuesday, and then once again today, some close to the case were wondering if …

Feds & State Search For Stacy Peterson, But Where's Linda Fellenbaum?

The FBI and Illinois State Police have spent two days in Hammel Woods looking for Stacy Peterson while missing mom Linda Fellenbaum has been gone for more than two weeks.

While FBI agents and state troopers spent a second straight day scouring Hammel Woods for some sign of missing mom Stacy Peterson, there was no one to be found in a Joliet cul-de-sac just six miles away, the one where another mother was supposedly seen running off barefoot, never to be seen again. That mother, Linda Fellenbaum, 33, disappeared Oct. 21, leaving her cell phone, shoes and Toyota Camry at the home of the Joliet man she moved in with only two months before. Fellenbaum and her Joliet boyfriend, Donald Wolak, 40, had met on the Internet, police said, and their short relationship was made out to be a stormy one. Wolak told police Fellenbaum took off on him five days before disappeared for good. And when she absconded on Oct. 16, …

FBI & State Police's Search For Stacy Turns Soggy

Despite wet conditions, state troopers and federal agents continued their search for Stacy Peterson in Shorewood's Hammel Woods.

For a second straight day, federal agents and Illinois State Police troopers combed through Hammel Woods in Shorewood, searching for a sign of missing mom Stacy Peterson. On Monday, a state police source confirmed troopers and FBI agents had launched a search for the vanished wife of disgraced former Bolingbrook cop Drew Peterson. FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde also said agents with the feds' Evidence Response Team were in the woods "working with ISP as part of an ongoing criminal investigation." Despite persistent rain, agents and troopers were back at it Tuesday. The FBI provided a large recreation vehicle. On Monday, helicopters, boats and police dogs were employed in the joint operation. It was not clear how the inclement weather would …

State Cops & FBI Searching For Stacy Peterson in Hammel Woods
