Tobacco Store Caught Selling Fake Pot

Tobacco Loco on Collins Street was one of two Will County retailers caught selling synthetic marijuana last week, police said.

A Will County task force found a Joliet tobacco store selling synthetic marijuana and arrested an employee who sold it, according to a published report. Members of the Cooperative Police Assistance Team executed search warrants Thursday at Tobacco Loco, 421 Collins St. in Joliet, and IHS Cigars and Tobacco, 16200 S. Lincoln Highway, Plainfield, and found both were selling K-2, or synthetic marijuana, a story in the Joliet Herald News said. CPAT also arrested Tobacco Loco employee Mohammed Shaqeldi, 25, of Joliet, when he sold undercover agents packets of K-2. “For some time there have been ongoing complaints made to local police and the warrant resulted from four drug buys there,” CPAT Director Mike Weber told the newspaper, adding the …

Jet's Giving Away Free Pizza Slices This Saturday

To celebrate a slew of new store openings, the Joliet store and the 12 others in the Chicago area will be handing out free slices and T-shirts.

To celebrate a big 2012, during which it opened a new store in Joliet and a half dozen others in Illinois, Jet's Pizza is giving away free slices this Saturday. The deal's good from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Joliet restaurant, 2309 Essington Road, and at the chains 12 other area stores. The first 50 people at each Jet's store will also receive a free Jet's T-shirt.  Jet’s doubled its Illinois presence in 2012 with the opening of seven new restaurants -- Arlington Heights, Champaign, Chicago, Joliet, Libertyville, Lombard and Wheaton -- bringing the total number of Jet’s Pizzas in the state to 13. Sam's Recalls Salmon that May Be Tainted

Paramount Reserve products may be contaminated with listeria, which can be dangerous to pregnant women, elderly people an anyone with impaired immunity.

Yet another product recall has been issued, this one involving smoked salmon sold at Sam's Club in Illinois and 42 other states and may be contaminated with listeria. Listerious causes food poisoning, and can be particularly dangerous and even fatal to pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and adults with impaired immune systems, according the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. There is a Sam's Club in Joliet, located at 321 S. Larkin Ave. There are also stores located in Naperville, Woodridge and Tinley Park. The products being recalled are Paramount Reserve 12-ounce and 1.25-pound packs distributed between Nov. 12 and Dec. 21, according to a Food Safety News bulletin.
