Montini 40, JCA 37: Joe Borsellino scored three second-half touchdowns as the Broncos rallied to overtake the Hilltoppers Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Joliet.
Breaking It Down: Joe Borsellino didn’t have Ty Isaac-like numbers. Borsellino did have the one thing Isaac wanted most—the ‘W’ that went with Montini’s scintillating 40-37 victory over Joliet Catholic Academy in the Class 5A football semifinals Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Joliet. Borsellino scored three second-half touchdowns as the Broncos overcame deficits of 21-7 and 31-14. He converted on a fourth-and-2 play from the JCA 17 with 55 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Two plays later, he scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 1-yard lunge with 30.8 remaining. JCA took over and moved the ball to the Montini 43 before its last-ditch drive stalled following three straight incompletions. One of Craig Slowik's passes during the series was …
Hilltoppers take on powerhouse Montini in Class 5A semifinal matchup.
To get back to Champaign, Joliet Catholic Academy's football team will go back to the drawing board against a familar foe. JCA (8-4) takes on Lombard Montini (10-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday in a Class 5A semifinal game at Memorial Stadium in Joliet. When the two last met, Montini came out the winner, 70-45, in a shootout for the 5A state title last November. JCA's Ty Isaac rushed for 515 yards and scored six touchdowns—but it was all for naught. Isaac's status for Saturday's rematch is uncertain. He aggravated a groin injury in JCA's 21-20 overtime victory over Lincoln-Way West. Montini advanced with a 42-27 victory over Woodstock Marian Central. The winner moves on to play in the Class 5A state championship game at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24…

Joliet Catholic Academy heads into Saturday's Class 5A football semifinal game vs. Montini with a bit of a different mindset because of questions about Ty Isaac's health and availability.
With the game and its season on the line, Joliet Catholic Academy’s football team turned to its defense to make the big plays in a 21-20 overtime victory over Lincoln-Way West in the Class 5A quarterfinals. Senior linebacker Ira Hughes notched his first sack. Junior defensive end Anthony McInerney stopped Lincoln-Way West’s Justin Keuch on a fourth-and-2 play in the first half. Keuch was harassed into a throwing an incompletion on a fourth-and-5 in the second half by JCA’s entire ‘D’ line. Senior linebacker Matt Madrigal made a team-high 10 tackles. Senior defensive back Grant Harrison twice stopped Lincoln-Way West from gaining momentum through the airwaves with his two interceptions. His is a story of rehab. Harrison broke his hand in a …

Joliet Catholic Academy 21, Lincoln-Way West 20 (OT): Zach Rezin and J.B. Butler teamed up to stop the Warriors' Justin Keuch inches short on a potential game-winning two-point conversion run on the final play in Saturday's thriller in New Lenox.
Breaking It Down: When Ty Isaac exited with an injury in the fourth quarter, Joliet Catholic Academy turned to Michael Ivlow and its defense to stave off Lincoln-Way West 21-20 in an overtime thriller in the Class 5A football quarterfinals Saturday in New Lenox. Ivlow scored on a 1-yard run. Brian Bravo kicked the extra point and JCA led 21-14. Lincoln-Way West’s Javier Montalvo cut the margin to 20-20 on a 10-yard touchdown run. The Warriors elected to go for two points and the win. Justin Keuch was stopped inches short on a quarterback read-option play by JCA’s Zach Rezin and J.B. Butler. Joliet Catholic Academy 42, Tinley Park 21: Michael Ivlow was one of two backs to eclipse the 100-yard rushing barrier as the Hilltoppers knocked out the Titans Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Joliet.
Breaking It Down: Michael Ivlow watched his father’s team drop an emotional decision in an IHSA football playoff game on Friday night. He was determined not to let the family suffer through an 0-for-2 weekend. Ivlow showed his determination by rushing for 103 yards on 12 carries and scoring the final touchdown in Joliet Catholic Academy’s 42-21 victory over Tinley Park on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs at Joliet’s Memorial Stadium. His performance followed on the heels of Bolingbrook’s 44-33 loss to Neuqua Valley in a Class 8A thriller on Friday night. Bolingbrook is coached by his father John. Michael was one of two backs to eclipse the 100-yard rushing barrier as JCA showed off all of its weapons for the …

Joliet Catholic Academy 31, Carmel 24 (OT): Ty Isaac rushed for 229 yards and scored three touchdowns, including the game-winner, as the Hilltoppers stopped the Corsairs on Friday night at ATI Field.
Breaking It Down: Ty Isaac, running at three-quarters speed, is still better than most backs running full-steam ahead. Isaac, the USC recruit who has been plagued by injuries, rushed for a game-high 229 yards and scored three touchdowns in Joliet Catholic Academy’s 31-24 victory over Carmel at ATI Field Friday night in Joliet. Included was a 5-yard TD run in overtime that snapped a 24-24 deadlock. The Hilltoppers then turned to their defense to come up with a stop and Zack Jackovich delivered. He intercepted a fourth-and-24 pass thrown by the Corsairs’ Nick Grandolfo at the goal line. Grandolfo’s 1-yard scoring run with 30.6 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime. The interception was Jackovich’s fifth of the year and …
