Shannon Butler scored 5 of her game-high 11 points in the second quarter as the Joliet Catholic Academy girls basketball team rolled past Nazareth.
The potential of the Joliet Catholic Academy girls basketball team was on full display during the second quarter Thursday night, especially in a sequence that resulted in a Miranda Morales 3-pointer. Off a steal by freshman guard Cierra Stanciel, sophomore guard Naomi Mayes fed Morales, a junior guard. Then, senior center Shannon Butler scored on a lob from sophomore guard Christine Ekhomu. Bam. Bam. Bam. “We were up, we wanted to stay up and we didn’t want to take plays off,” said Butler, who scored 5 of her game-high 11 points in the second quarter. “We played well and we wanted to finish the game off.” An off night Tuesday in a 58-45 loss to Plainfield Central played against Nazareth in the Student Activity Center as the Angels romped …

Bolingbrook 85, Romeoville 33. The Bolingbrook Lady Raiders emerged with district bragging rights and an IHSA Regional title behind Morgan Tuck's 19 points.
The Hot Read: Apparently, only a pulled fire alarm could stop the red-hot Lady Raiders. With 2:34 remaining in the second quarter—after Taylor Tuck made a free throw—a fire alarm went off at Plainfield East High School, causing a 21-minute delay in the game. But the pause was just a minor setback for Bolingbrook, which scorched the nets early and often—a 25-1 run in the first quarter propelled the two-time defending state champs to a 27-6 lead it would never relinquish. Junior Morgan Tuck scored a game-high 19 points to lead Bolingbrook, while sophomore Kiera Currie's 16 points wasn't enough to spur Romeoville to an upset victory. Patch's MVP: Seniors Taylor Tuck and Ariel Massengale combined to score 23 points, grab six steals and pull …

"They're unbelieveable and we're going to have to see what we do." Carrasco's team felt a certain amount of pressure Tuesday as it faced quite a challenge from Lockport. Three sophomores led the charge into Burbank on Tuesday night when visiting Romeoville beat Reavis 68-39.
A youth movement has taken over the Romeoville High School girls basketball team. Three sophomores led the charge into Burbank on Tuesday night when visiting Romeoville beat Reavis 68-39. Romeoville coach Julio Carrasco knew defense would be key and wasted no time in turning up the heat. The Spartans opened the game with a full court press and forced the Rams into seven first quarter turnovers. “We had scouted them this year, my assistant coach Dan Kelly went and watched them against Oak Forest and he thought their ball dribbling was kind of skeptical so we decided to come out and press a little bit,” Carrasco said. “We got some easy baskets off of steals and like I mentioned earlier, our defense leads into our offense and that’s what …
