Lipinski Pushes for FAA Reauthorization

Long-term reauthorization bill must pass to secure FAA funding for projects, including upgrades to Lewis University Airport.

Congressman Dan Lipinski said Wednesday that he continues to push for the long-term reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after a five-year delay that has stalled airport projects including plans to rebuild a 20-year-old runway at Lewis University Airport in Romeoville. Local officials say major upgrades at the Lewis University Airport could be the key to attracting Fortune 500 corporations to Romeoville and the surrounding areas. But funding for the more than $10 million in projects planned for the airport hinges on whether lawmakers are able to come to an agreement for a long-term reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration’s operating authority.
