Already struggling with a $1.8 million deficit, District 202 got hit with another financial blow in January when Edward Hospital was granted tax-exempt status. That meant the district would not only loose $250,000 per year in taxes from the hospital, which has a campus in Plainfield — it would also have to repay the money it has received since Edward first began applying for tax-exempt status in 2008. On Monday, the board signed off on an agreement with Edward that will allow the district to pay out $750,000 to the hospital over the next three years, rather than in one lump sum, District 202 Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Angela Smith said. Edward Hospital has opened a Quick Care Clinic inside the Romeoville Jewel-Osco store at the corner of Weber and Taylor roads. The clinic offers routine treatment and preventive care, without an appointment, seven days a week. Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. “We’re proud to partner with Jewel-Osco and provide high-quality health care that’s convenient and fits the busy lifestyles and schedules that many of us have,” said Bill Kottmann, president of Edward Health Ventures, in a news release on the new venture. Customers will soon be able to get a $3 car wash any time of the day or night at Romeoville businesses. Trustees signed off on a special use permit to allow Laserwash, located at Phelps and Route 53, to add a 24-hour, $3 car wash lane. By adding brand-new equipment to the southern wash lane, Laserwash will be able to offer $3 washes in the north lane, Community Development Director Steve Rockwell said Wednesday.
