Follow These Tips to Stay Safe on Cyber Monday

Ray Klump, a Lewis University professor and computer expert, offers these tips to avoid problems while online shopping.

So, you plan on doing a little shopping from your desk on the day that's unofficially been labeled Cyber Monday. Not a bad way to avoid the crowds and take a pass on circling the mall lot looking for a parking place and to avoid the lines at the registers as you try to make purchases, but there are pitfalls, too, says Dr. Ray Klump, Lewis University's director of the master of science in information security program. If you want to be safe, Klump offers these tips: 1. Make sure your computer's operating system, antivirus and anti-spyware software, and web browsers are up-to-date.
