More than 80,000 pounds of food were distributed to hundreds of area residents during Jan. 14 event at Mongo McMichael's.
On Saturday, hundreds of cars lined up outside Mongo McMichael's in Romeoville, and it wasn't just to watch a game or grab a quick dinner. Residents turned out for the restaurant's first Community Outreach Day, coordinated by the Joliet-based Hands of Hope Ministries. The organization helped provide more than 550 boxes and over 80,000 pounds of food to area residents in need, according to Mongo McMichael's owner Stavros Spandonidis.
