Some Christmas Songs Beg the Question: Festive or Frightening?
Our columnist gives a rundown of the scariest — or at least most unsettling — songs of the season.
Editor's note: This column originally ran in December 2010. Nothing gets me in the Christmas spirit faster than a great Christmas song, and nothing takes me out of it faster than a creepy one. Today I'm sharing with you a list of my top five most disturbing Christmas songs. I find these songs disturbing due to lyrics, general theme, melody or a combination thereof. Some of my opinions may be unpopular, and I actually like a couple of the songs I'm writing about, but all of them have a level of creepiness that make me feel a little less than merry. Here they are, in no particular order.
