Mike Ditka and other Chicago-area celebrities were to appear at a March 5 benefit in Chicago.
A winter storm that could dump 10 or more inches of snow on Romeoville and the Chicago area prompted organizers to postpone a fundraiser for mayoral candidate Steve "Mongo" McMichael. The event, originally set for March 5 at the Old Town Pour House in Chicago, will be rescheduled for Friday, March 15, at a location that's still to be determined, according to a press release issued Monday by the McMichael campaign. "In light of the National Weather Service's advisory concerning tomorrow's impending severe winter storm that will make travel dangerous, Steve McMichael huddled with his campaign committee and generous hosts and determined that tomorrow night's event should be rescheduled," the press release said. "Steve does not want anyone to …

Not a lot of choices, Shep? Hmmm... I don't know about that. You mean "Mongo McMichael's" isn't a good choice?? I would think that he would be proud to bring Ditka and all his other "supporters" out to Romeoville to see the business that he put his own name on. Just goes to show what a joke he and his whole "campaign are".   more ›

Arena football coach and Romeoville mayoral hopeful Steve "Mongo" McMichael recalled how his former player "blew his knee out" during a preseason practice.
An arena football player claiming he suffered an injury while practicing at Megaplex in Homer Glen is suing the fitness facility for allegedly failing to keep its artificial turf affixed to the floor. Lawrence Goffer was practicing with the Chicago Slaughter in February 2011 when the "turf below his foot gave way" and he got hurt, according to the lawsuit filed at the Will County Courthouse. Goffer, a defensive back and wide receiver, was planting his foot when the turf came loose, the lawsuit said. Slaughter coach—and Romeoville mayoral hopeful—Steve "Mongo" McMichael remembered the day of Goffer's injury. "He blew out his knee out and we lost him for the season," said McMichael, a two-time All-Pro and starter on the 1985 Super Bowl …

I have coached youth arena football for 6 years at this facility. The comment about not updating the place... Please, that building was an empty shell with only the roller hockey rink. Today it servers all ages of people and is an outstanding facility! I was at the practice when this player got hurt. It was a horrible accident, but the turf was not loose, it was very similar to Wendell Davis …   more ›

Lovie is not team leader. He is a contributor ! He blew it when they had Rex and Cedric, not knowing how to replace them when they didn't perform. Same thing with Cutler. He chooses players on personality, not performance. He'd be a good defensive co-ordinator as he was with Dungee with the Colts. Chicago needs another Iron Mike, someone who doesn't cater to prima donas but gets them either …   more ›
