Spartans First at SPC Chess Tournament
RHS team members also snagged first- and second-place medals.
The Romeoville High School chess team took first at the Dec. 4 South Prairie Conference Chess Tournament. Individually, the Spartans also did well. Team members Dylan Czajowski, Mike Murray, Chris Garcia, Nick Kuehn and Kevin Silva won first-place medals, while Mike Suchomel and Austin Janisch walked away with second-place honors. The win comes after RHS tied for third at the Argo High School Tournament on Oct. 30. The team is coached by Katherine Amundson-Cosentino.
