Property Crimes: Appliances, Wii Game, Laptop Taken in Burglaries

Police also took reports on house and car vandalism, diesel fuel theft and retail theft.

The following property crimes were reported to the Romeoville Police Department: A side mirror was damaged on a vehicle parked in the lot of a business in the 1400 block of West Normantown Road. Damage estimated at $200; report made at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 16. A wallet, iPad, leather bag and several bottles of medication taken from a vehicle parked in the lot of a business in the 1200 block of Lakeview Drive. Access gained by breaking window. Damage and loss estimated at $1,650; report made at 9:16 p.m. Jan. 16. An estimated 200 gallons of diesel fuel taken from several truck parked in the lot of a business in the 1800 block of Normantown Road. Loss valued at $730; report made at 6:20 a.m. Jan. 18. Police: Band of Burglars Nabbed

Four people charged after two separate incidents.

With the help of some witnesses — and, in one case, the quick thinking of a local business owner — Romeoville police foiled two late-night burglaries last week. Assistant Chief Steven Lucchesi said the first group of offenders was caught on camera Thursday while attempting to steal scrap metal from a business in the 900 block of Chicago Tube Drive. A day after reporting a previous theft at the business, a manager at Pollmann North America installed a surveillance camera and caught three people — including one of his employees — red-handed as they attempted another burglary, Lucchesi said. Teen Charged in String of Burglaries

Police say 15-year-old admits to cutting screens, stealing cash.

A 15-year-old boy is charged in connection with a rash of residential burglaries after being taken into custody on a curfew violation, police said. In a news release, Assistant Chief Steven Lucchesi said the teen was spotted riding a bicycle at around 3:21 a.m. Wednesday in an area where a number of recent burglaries have taken place. After being taken into custody, the teen was found to be in possession of a pair of garden-style gloves and a pair of scissors, according to the release. The arresting officer also observed that the front window of a nearby home was open and that the screen had been cut, police said. Police Blotter: Computers, Cameras Stolen in Separate Burglaries

Incidents reported by Romeoville Police Department, June 13-18.

Window shattered A vandal used a blunt object to shatter a double-pane window at a home in the 200 block of Haller, police said. Burglary reports Cars vandalized A vandal scratched two vehicles parked in front of a home in the 400 block of Healy, causing between $100 and $500 in damage, according to police.

Truck burglarized Someone stole two microwave ovens worth $419.98 and damaged a $799.99 air conditioner in a truck parked in the 1200 block of Naperville Drive, police said. Stolen bike A bicycle thief nabbed a $900 bike left unattended in the area of Taylor Road and Weslake Parkway, according to police. Police Blotter: Rash of Burglaries Hits Romeoville

Cars burglarized Attempted burglary A resident in the 200 block of Key Largo discovered a damaged window screen after a burglar attempted to enter the locked residence, according to police. Cost to repair the damaged screen is estimated at $225. Copper theft Someone stole copper piping and a water meter worth an estimated $1,700 from a residence in the 1600 block of Rose Lane, according to police Motorcycle nabbed A burglar stole a mini-chopper-style motorcycle left in the garage of a residence in the 300 block of Homer, according to a police report. Estimated cost of the motorcycle is $1,200.

Police Blotter: Thieves Nab Safe, TV, Guitars in Romeoville Burglaries

Purloined potables A thief nabbed several bottles of liquor, valued at $150, from a business in the 0-100 block of Weber Road, police said. Vehicle burglarized A thief entered a car left unlocked in the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Birch and stole a purse and several other items worth roughly $600, police said. Police Blotter: Rash of Burglaries Hits Romeoville

A vandal used an unknown object to damage the windshield and roof of a vehicle in a public parking area at Route 53 and University Parkway, police said, causing $300 worth of damage.
