Two Valley View School District 365U athletes turned in top-10 performances at the IHSA girls state track championships over the weekend. Bolingbrook High School sophomore Jessica Watkins finished 9th in the state in both the 100 meter dash (12.44) and 200 meter dash (25.99). Anna Kopsky currently attends North Central College.
While she pursues her Bachelor’s Degree, Bolingbrook High School graduate Anna Kopsky is having a great time as a staff member at WSSR-FM/Star 96.7 Radio. The 20-year-old former BHS National Honor Society President, Raiderette and Homecoming Queen has been working in radio since she was 14. These days she can be heard from 5 to 9 a.m. weekdays delivering news and traffic reports and serving as co-host of the "Cooper in the Morning Show." Kopsky hopes to graduate from North Central College two terms early in November. Before landing a job at Star 96.7, she interned for almost a year at 95.9 “The River” both on-air and in the promotions department, and at 100.7 Q-Rock on the air. After losing her best friend to suicide, a Bolingbrook High School student wants to know why more isn't being done to address bullying in her school.
On March 12, 2013, my life changed. My best friend passed away from suicide because she was being bullied on Facebook. The next day, no one was aware of this tragic situation. I had to hear rumors from students until I was called down to the Guidance Office. It broke my heart hearing about my friend's passing. I was very upset and was wondering why our principal did not have a moment of silence for my best friend. Suicide and bullying is an issue at my high school. I am trying to address these horrible tragedies. But no one is listening. What will it take for people to listen? A dear friend of mine Sean Mooi passed away last year March 24, 2012. Two Romeoville High School students and one Bolingbrook High School student will compete in the national competition in April.
Three Valley View School District 365U students have qualified for the American Chemical Society's National Chemistry Olympiad. Cole Brooker and Will Caron attend Romeoville High School. Suraj “Neil” Sheth, attends Bolingbrook High School. All three students qualified by registering outstanding scores at the regional competition March 22 at Lewis University. Crisis Team has been activated at Bolingbrook High School.
Bolingbrook police continue to investigate the death of a Bolingbrook High School student Tuesday night. Little information is available; however, Larry Randa, spokesman for Valley View School District, confirmed the Crisis Team at the school is available to students. Readers on the Bolingbrook Patch Facebook page confirmed a phone call message was received by parents regarding the death. Check Patch later for more information on this story.

Drafting team takes second in regional competition.
Four Bolingbrook High School students are on their way to Illinois Drafting Educators Association state championships in April, according to the Valley View School District website. The four advanced from the March 8 regional competition at Joliet Junior College. Individual qualifiers are: Gregory Enriquez finished first in Introductory Computer Aided Design, Kevin Palli was first in 3D Architecture, Kevin Kruger in Introductory Board and Caleb Munson in 3D Architecture both took second place finishes. A Bolingbrook High School senior took second in state at the recent Business Professionals of America’s (BPA) State Leadership Conference & Competition.
Bolingbrook High School senior Terrence Obeng placed second in the Medical Office Procedures division at the Business Professionals of America’s (BPA) State Leadership Conference & Competition. Nearly 800 student delegates representing 40 schools from throughout the state attended the Leadership Conference. Obeng competed against 30 other students and was required to not only know different medical terms and procedures, but also had to produce two different documents for her 60-minute competition. She earned a medal and a plaque and is eligible to represent Illinois at BPA’s National Leadership Conference May 8-11 in Orlando where some 5,000 other student delegates from across the nation participating in national level business skills …

Bolingbrook police have released the sketch of a man they believe tried to abduct two Bolingbrook High School students while they were walking home this week. READ MORE: On Tuesday, police reported a man tried to pull a Bolingbrook student into his car. Then on Thursday, a second teenage girl reported fighting off a man who followed her home and grabbed her from behind, according to police. Bolingbrook police have said Thursday's incident may be related to the attempted abduction on Tuesday. Both incidents remain under investigation, police said. Bullying is a problem at every school. If kids are caught, their parents cause such a fuss in the office that there are no consequences. PBIS and the like don't do much good if there is no follow through. Keep up the good work, young writer, you are a remarkable young person.
