Meet WonTon! She is a gorgeous 5-year-old Maine Coon mix that joined the Romeoville Humane Society in February. She was surrendered by her owner when he was unable to afford the cost of the cystotomy to remove a magnesium stone from her bladder. WonTon has made a full recovery, and is anxious to find a family to call her own. She will need to be on a special diet the rest of her life. The vet recommended two different foods that are sold at many veterinarian offices with a prescription. The preferred choice is Royal Canin and the secondary choice is Hill’s Prescription. She should also drink distilled water. Placing her on this special diet greatly decreases the risk of a reoccurring stone. WonTon is a gentle, easy-going cat that gets …

Sunday, September 4, 2011
With other area animal shelters too full to take her, Gizmo has found a temporary home with a Romeoville Humane Society volunteer after being found wandering around during a bad wind storm. Now, the eight-month-old kitten is safe in a foster home with a new brother and sister — and she's decided she rules the roost, according to humane society volunteers. Gizmo is usually the first one at the food bowl and the last to leave, so she would benefit from a family that feeds its animals on a regular schedule. Gizmo's adoption fee is $150, including her spaying, vaccinations, microchip implant, fecal test and feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus tests. The Romeoville Humane Society is a volunteer-run animal rescue. Before they are …

My name is Pita and I am a gorgeous 70-pound American bulldog/mastiff/pit bull/hound mix. Some people say I have the best traits from all those breeds in me. All I know is I absolutely love people and other dogs. I bond extremely quickly to my people and follow them around. I like to be their shadow. I love dogs of all sizes. Right now I live with a Chihuahua, a cocker spaniel, another pit bull and a Great Pyrenees. I also can play alone by throwing sticks to myself, running around the back yard and getting toys out of my toy box. My foster mom and dad think I'm pretty entertaining. When I'm done playing, I'm happiest if I can rest in your lap. You may have to turn the TV up a little because I do snore but I won't keep you up at night. I…

Kicia (pronounced key-cha) means kitty in Polish. We had to take her and her mama in when she was only a couple weeks old to keep her safe, so she was always "the baby" to us so we were having a hard time naming her. When the nice people who found Miracle brought him to us, the lady suggested that we name her Kicia, one of her favorite cat names — and we liked the name too. Kicia is now around 10 weeks old. She has short, shiny black hair with a little bit of white hair inside her ears. It took her awhile to adjust to being in the house and away from her mama, but she was soon running and playing with the other kittens. She can still be a bit shy and will run and hide if something startles her or scares her ... but that doesn't last long …

Hi, my name is Dexter. My foster mom calls me Sexy Dexy. My vet says I'm between 2 and 4 years old. I am such a sweet boy who gets along with all dogs and I even don't mind cats or rabbits. I also lick my foster brother dogs' ears to show them affection. I love to play with dogs and I need a lot of exercise. I still need to learn how to walk on a leash properly because I get so excited! If you adopt me, I promise to show you lots of love and affection. I'm also completely housebroken and do not chew on any furniture. If you are interested in meeting Dexter, please call 877-813-7300. Dexter's adoption fee of $200 includes his neuter, vaccines, heartworm test, fecal test, deworming and microchip with registration. The Romeoville Humane …

Little Miracle got help from another cat, who found him and carried him in through the cat door. Miracle is now around 12 weeks old and doing very well. He is black but he does have a white spot at his throat and another between his back legs. He is very short haired and it seems to be changing from fuzzy to sleek right now. Whenever we see him just sitting, he always looks like a little Egyptian cat statue to us. He loves to play, but he also likes his attention too. He is vocal. He comes and meows a hello when he wants attention. He jumps up by you to be petted and likes to curl up on you or next to you for a nap. When he finds a toy special, he makes all kinds of little sounds when he is off playing with it. He loves to run, play, and …

Betty is an 11-year-old Chihuahua with a unique brindle coat. If you're looking for a sweet, laid back older dog to keep you company, then Betty is your girl. She spends most of her day sleeping and nestled in her comforter surrounded by pillows and her favorite shoes. She is truly a little diva! Don't let her fool you, though. Once you ask her if she wants a treat or to go outside, she perks up and is the first one in line. She loves her treats and her daily walks. Her foster home has a fenced-in yard so she also enjoys hanging out in the backyard and is known to sunbathe occasionally on the deck. She currently lives with her foster brother and sister, who are also Chihuahuas. They all get along really well and have become good friends…
