RHS Senior Takes Eighth at State Track Meet

Two Valley View School District 365U athletes turned in top-10 performances at the IHSA girls state track championships this weekend.

Bolingbrook High School sophomore Jessica Watkins finished 9th in the state in both the 100 meter dash (12.44) and 200 meter dash (25.99). Plainfield School District Athletes Qualify for Girls State Track Meet

Teens from three of District 202's four high schools will send girls to the state event in Charleston.

Plainfield School District 202 will be well represented this weekend at the Illinois High School Association Girls State Track Meet this weekend at O'Brien Stadium in St. Charles.  Three of the four high schools in the district will send qualifiers to the meet. Seventy Valley View Student-Athletes Qualify for IESA State Track Finals

Seventy Valley View School District 365U students will compete in the state Illinois Elementary School Association track finals next weekend.

Valley View School District 365U students turned in outstanding performances at Saturday’s Illinois Elementary School Association regional at Brooks Middle School, with nearly seven dozen qualifying for the state finals this weekend in East Peoria. Brooks Middle School won the eighth grade boys regional championship, and was second in seventh grade boys, and both seventh and eighth grade girls. Romeoville Girls Track Team Takes Third at Sectional, Headed to State

Seven Valley View individuals and two relay teams qualified for the IHSA girls track championship next weekend.

Bolingbrook HS Teacher: Boston Marathon Bombings 'Brought Back Memories of 9/11'

John Sullivan, a Bolingbrook High School teacher, finished the Boston Marathon one hour before two bombs went off near the finish line.

Bolingbrook High School Teacher John Sullivan had a big goal to accomplish Monday -- to clock a personal best time in his third Boston Marathon.  Sign up for our free, daily e-newsletter.  Like Bolingbrook Patch on Facebook.   "(My goal was) to do a personal record at the age of 50," Sullivan said. "I was going to leave my mark on Boston.'" He succeeded, running 26.2 miles in 2:58:08. That meant Sullivan crossed the finish line 70 minutes before two bombs exploded, killing three people and injuring more than 170 others.  When the bombs went off, Sullivan was in a hotel lobby six blocks away. Bolingbrook Native, Boston Marathon Medical Tent Doctor Remembers 'True Heroes of the Day'

A 1990 graduate of Bolingbrook High School was working in the Boston Marathon medical tent Monday when it transformed from a post-race triage unit to a trama unit.

A 1990 Bolingbrook High School graduate and doctor was working in the medical tent at the finish line of the Boston Marathon when two explosions went off, killing three people and wounding at least 170 others.  Sign up for our daily e-newsletter.  Like Bolingbrook Patch on Facebook.  Dr. Jocelyn Hirschman grew up in Bolingbrook and now works in northern Boston.
