Romeoville Police: Alcohol May Be a Factor in Motorcycle Crash

Two people were injured Sunday when a car and a motorcycle collided at Weber and Taylor roads.

Romeoville police continue to investigate a crash that sent a Joliet man and Romeoville woman to area hospitals Sunday, and said they believe alcohol may have played a role. Deputy Chief Steve Lucchesi said police are looking into whether 52-year-old Wade Mano of Joliet was drinking prior to the crash. “It does appear that alcohol was possibly involved,” Lucchesi said. Mano was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in critical condition following the crash, while his passenger, 49-year-old Dorothy Taylor of Romeoville, was taken to Loyola and listed in stable condition, according to police. Romeoville Police Blotter: Burglars Take Everything, Including the Kitchen Sink

Incidents reported by Romeoville police, May 9-15.

May 9 Someone stole a bicycle from the garage of a home in the 1700 block of Autumn Woods Lane, police said. A resident in the 200 block of Hemlock reported that an unknown person stole $20, a pair of sunglasses and prescription medication, worth a total of $265, from an unlocked vehicle parked in front of the home, police said.  May 11 A burglar stole a 3-D HDTV from a residence in the 400 block of Arnold Avenue, police said. Estimated value of the TV is $3,000. May 14 A resident in the 1900 block of Crestview Circle reported a residential burglary and said two TVs, audio equipment, a gaming system, computer equipment and several pieces of jewelry were taken from the home, police said. Motorcyclist, Passenger Injured in Romeoville Crash

A 52-year-old Joliet man and a Romeoville woman were hurt in a crash involving a motorcycle and an Isuzu Rodeo at Weber and Taylor roads.

Hey Shannon, thanks for that update. After reading the new information it would appear I was wrong and it was in fact the motorcycle that was at fautl. It did, however appear that the SUV had tried to make a left when I rode past, but the update says otherwise. Dodging a car that isnt moving... thats a new one for me.   more ›

April 26 Todd Bisceglia, 52, of the 7800 block of Huntington Circle in Hanover Park was arrested by Romeoville police at 8:37 p.m. at Route 53 and Joliet Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, making an improper turn, illegal transportation of alcohol and disobeying a traffic-control device, police said. Bond Set at $3 Million in Fatal Romeoville Stabbing

Fabian Almodovar is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Carlos Orozco outside of the Romeoville Jewel-Osco.

Bond was set at $3 million Saturday for a Romeoville man charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Joliet teenager found stabbed in the chest in the parking lot at Jewel-Osco, 20 S. Weber Rd. Read: Romeoville Man Arrested in Teen's Stabbing Death Fabian Almodovar, 22, appeared in Will County court Saturday after being taken into custody a day earlier. Romeoville police said Almodovar stabbed 17-year-old Carlos Orozco in the chest during a fight outside the grocery store on Thursday night. I couldn't agree more with anonymous. I dated Fabian through highschool. He broke my ribs broke my hand which needed pins to be put in and chocked me. He has thrown a pool ball through my front window and on Easter jumped me and my current boyfriend and was arrested for battery an domestic battery. I went for an order of protection the next day. So yeah, I'd say he is exactly where he belongs!   more ›

Megachurch Sex Lawsuit Filed in Will County: Court Supervision

A lawsuit against an imprisoned preacher from Crete and an Indiana megachurch topped the week's court news.

A former megachurch preacher sentenced to 12 years in federal prison in March for carrying on a sexual relationship with a teenage member of his congregation was sued in Will County court. In addition to preacher Jack Schaap, 55, of Crete, the First Baptist Church of Hammond was named as a defendant in the lawsuit. The parents of a teenage girl Schaap had sex with while he was pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hammond filed the lawsuit. The suit identifies the parents as "John Doe and Mary Doe," and the teen as "Jane Doe." The suit gives Jane Doe's date of birth as June 27, 1995. [UPDATED] Romeoville Man Arrested in Teen's Stabbing Death

17-year-old Carlos Orozco was pronounced dead following a fight Thursday night in Romeoville, police said.

Updated at 4:45 p.m. May 17: Police said a 22-year-old Romeoville man is in custody and will be charged with first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Carlos Orozco. Fabian Almodovar was taken into police custody after being discharged from the hospital, Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steve Lucchesi said. He said Almodovar, who suffered facial injuries and a concussion, is scheduled to be transported to the Will County jail Friday night. Almodovar is accused of stabbing the Joliet teen in the chest during a fight in the parking lot at Jewel-Osco, 20 S. Weber Rd. Police declined to release information on what led to the fight. Lady Friend Charged With Leading Mob to Attack Boyfriend Now Off Hook

But the alleged mob still faces criminal charges.

A Romeoville woman charged with leading her daughter and three pals on a vicious rampage against her boyfriend walked out of court a free woman Friday—and left the other four behind to face the music. Lana Richards, 45, had been up on charges of aggravated battery and criminal trespass to a residence before prosecutors dismissed the case. Richards' daughter, 25-year-old Melissa Richards, and three men—Kurt Hodges, 27, Gregory Kijek, 26, and Johnathan Bolisenga, 29—were arrested along with her in connection with a brutal attack on Lana Richards' former boyfriend, Thomas Lerch.
