Piss poor explanation from Bolingbrook officials..... Unacceptable. Do they think that everyone isRead More in a house at 10PM at night when this tornado hit Romeoville? DUH!!!!! The fact that NWS and local Chicago news channels indicated rotation in the area is all Bolingbrook needed to turn on the switch.... THEY FAILED!!! PERIOD!!! Comcast broke into reqular prgramming and activated their EAS system with the tornado warning for Northwest Will County... Brant Miller from NBC5 Chicago broke in shortly after and showed the radar images. He pointed DIRECTLY at Bolingbrook as the original of cloud rotation!!!!!!!! People who defend the village claiming we should have "common sense" in order to save ourselves, are out of line. We pay taxes for these sirens, not everyone has a fancy life sucking smartphone, not everyone has a weather radio, not everyone has a generator for when the power goes out. To NOT sound the alarms during a tornado is flat out incompetence displayed by the Fire Batallion Chief.... An apology and a "we will do better next time" would have been nice. I'm tired of government officials refusing to be accountable for an obvious mistake... Shame on this response from Bolingbrook. Grow some balls and take the blame for once. This isn't Washington D.C.

Nothing will change until Claar croaks. Morons keep re-electing this Republican tool who cares moreRead More about funneling (pun intended) money into his precious golf courses and airport than sounding tornado warning sirens for rotation and the funnel cloud that was shown ON RADAR rotating right ON TOP of Bolingbrook! My cell phone went off with an Emergency Weather Alert from the National Weather Service -- whose local branch is in Romeoville -- so I don't buy the b.s. that Bolingbrook officials were waiting for warning from the NWS and local weather bureaus and spotters. FFS, every radar ap and online program from ABC to WGN along with wunderground.com showed a tornado WARNING for Bolingbrook til 10:30PM -- so how the hell can Bolingbrook officials try and give us the b.s. line that one of the reasons the sirens weren't sounded was because Plainfield & Naperville didn't sound *theirs*?!? And it doesn't take a genius to know that weather spotters couldn't see a rain-wrapped funnel cloud in a sky at night!! IT WAS ON THE FREAKING RADAR AND THE WARNING WAS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE. Bolingbrook effed up. Now residents should OWN UP to the fact that this mistake is OUR fault by re-electing Claar. This is a mayor who spends millions on golf courses and golf clubs where he personally chose the stone for the building's facade and interior, spends millions on subdivisions where houses still sit unoccupied, and throws money hand over fist into an unnecessary airport -- all the while cutting back our management of our Police and Fire Department to ONE person -- ONE chief who manages BOTH! Now Claar talks of the real possibility of outsourcing our 911 dispatch to an outside call-center that handles 19 OTHER communities! There is a REASON we have an award-winning 911 dispatch and that is because it is manned by men and women who are LOCALS and know the area. There have been countless complaints from Lemont after *they* outsourced their 911 dispatch with dispatchers in this outsourced center demanding that callers SPELL street names and give cross-streets and landmarks (such as businesses) to navigate to the site of the call because these people DON'T KNOW THE TOWN! I'm willing to bet this call-center has a friend of Claar's in a high position. Nepotism and corruption follow Claar in everything he does.
Robert July 12, 2014 at 10:58 pm
Outsourcing the 9-1-1 center guarantees Roger and all his rubber stamps and department head croniesRead More will ALL get their raises. Even though the King of Bolingbrook is already one of the top 5 Highest paid mayors in the state.

A lengthy list of scandals regarding the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) has now beenRead More publically exposed by NBC, CBS, NPR, Stars and Stripes, the Associated Press, and a host of other media investigative reports. Scathing official reports by multiple federal agencies painted efforts by JPAC as dysfunctional, duplicative, inefficient, wasteful and so poorly managed and led that JPAC simply could not do the job assigned to it. No matter how hard the JPAC Central Identification Laboratory (CIL) and JPAC management tried to spin the fact that only 385 identifications in seven years with an annual budget far exceeding $100 million was someone else’s fault, the American public and Congress refused to buy this hogwash. The JPAC CIL finally admitted that it takes them an average of ELEVEN YEARS to make an identification after remains are recovered. Investigations by the Department of Defense found 600 to 1,000 sets of American servicemen's remains in cardboard boxes in the JPAC Laboratory that the CIL is incapable of identifying because their methods are antiquated and obsolete. The American public and families of MIAs who accepted the smoke and mirrors from the JPAC public relations machine for years through fraud, phony “arrival home” ceremonies, and out right lies; feel angry, humiliated, and betrayed beyond belief. A large number of current and former employees of JPAC cooperated with these investigations because they are dismayed, disillusioned, disheartened, disgusted, and still disbelieving of what they experienced at JPAC. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, in congressional testimony, spoke for many of them when he called JPAC “disgraceful”. Despite being accused of being “vindictive” and “disgruntled”, many past and present employees braved severe retaliation by the JPAC management to come forward with the truth. There are many truly dedicated men and women who work at JPAC who believe in the mission. Researchers, military recovery specialists, and field investigators who hack through jungles, climb mountains, and wade rivers only to be sabotaged in their work by a completely dysfunctional command deserve great credit for their efforts to expose JPAC’s corrupt operation. In the final analysis, no one with any common sense whatsoever believed the excuses of the JPAC Laboratory Scientific Director and other members of the leadership clique at JPAC when their disgraceful actions became public. The Secretary of Defense finally ordered JPAC dissolved and the entire operation be “overhauled”. The changes are long overdue. Yet, even now, those who remain in command at JPAC continue to make excuses and are trying to keep their high paying jobs through their usual finger pointing, denials of responsibility, and boasts that they can “overhaul” their own severe dysfunction if Congress will just give them more millions. Bovine excrement. It is now incumbent upon the Secretary of Defense to ensure that his pledge to the American public for a "paradigm shift" away from "outdated, institutionalized thinking" at JPAC becomes a reality. Such needed massive reform cannot be accomplished by changing the name of the organization, re-shuffling the same poor managers to new desks and titles, and allowing those at fault for not keeping up with modern science such as DNA, to keep their jobs. To do so would only allow the same infectious disease of arrogance and lies to the families of American heroes to take root all over again. Everyone at any level of management and culpability in the many JPAC scandals must be removed. And removed now! The disaster at JPAC has been added to the VA Hospital, Dover Mortuary, Arlington Cemetery, and the Viet Nam Unknown debacles. We cannot allow it to happen again.

Big Job Trying to balance a Will County Budget is a big task, when facing the residents who alsoRead More have the Federal, State, townships and all the cities and special district governments to compete with. Most of us are concerned; our Federal and the state of Illinois just doesn’t have enough money to do what they said they would and are concerned about how to borrow more. Something has to change and it’s not at the bottom. We seem to be making it with what we control. Congress is talking about cutting SS, Medicaid, etc. which will never solve the problem of spending what you don’t have. Others are saying we need to change our tax code; too many loopholes and not collecting what is owed. We are hearing about taxing even our cell phone; where is it going to stop? President Obama is the only person to ask Congress: “Why can’t you make a law that “THE ONLY SOURCE OF REVENUE EACH GOVERNMENT HAS IS AN ADJUSTABLE CONSUMPTION SALES TAX ON ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES CREATED FOR PROFIT?” This allows only the Federal, state, county and local governments to set their rates and eliminates all special district governments. Adjusting each rate, eliminates borrowing or profits. Everyone alive is spending money and paid all their taxes. Those spending the most; just pay more tax and less tax is needed. The PACs consume advertizing, government profit generating systems are eliminated, and everyone is able to earn as much as they can within the Free Market System. Everyone pays their fair share. Everyone that believes in this basic question needs to make their own label; Mr. President; “WHY NOT?” The question is: “What can we do for our Country?” and THEN DO IT. Any new ideas?
