Staff members moved into the brand-new Romeoville Municipal Center in June 2010. The new facility houses both village employees and the Romeoville Police Department. Since 2000, the village's population has nearly doubled from 21,000 to more than 38,000. Village initiatives include its Green Team, dedicated to making Romeoville more environmentally friendly, as well as commissions dedicated to youth, senior and veterans outreach.

- What makes this community special?: Despite the still-sluggish economy, Mayor John Noak said the village continues to welcome new businesses and is seeing growth in industrial and warehouse developments. A new Heritage Corridor Metra station is scheduled to open in Romeoville by 2013.
