Ring in the 'Noon Year' at Romeoville Branch of White Oak Library District

The ball will drop on the "Noon Year" during a special program designed to help children ring in 2014 at the Romeoville Branch of the White Oak Library District on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

The program—open to kids of all ages—runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in meeting room 'A' on the library's main level.

A library spokesman said, "We will play games, make party hats and have a count down until noon. When the ball drops, we will have a fun dance party."

Children under the age of 8 should be accompanied by an adult. Registration is at The Children's Service Desk. Call (815) 886-2030 for information or email dkoll@whiteoaklibrary.org. The library is located at 201 W. Normantown Road.

AUGIE DOGIE'S: Romeoville's Katie Phares, a senior majoring in biology, is one of 839 students who was named to the Dean's List for the 2013 fall term at Augustana College.

Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a four-point scale for courses taken during the term, according to a news release submitted by Augustana officials.

Three others from Bolingbrook also gained the distinction: Sara Frachey, a junior majoring in graphic design; Amanda Ico, a fresham majoring in undecided; and Dominick Sullivan, a freshman majoring in undecided.
