Football is Baaaack! ... Are You Ready?

Expect the temperatures to be as hot as the action as a new season begins on the gridiron.

Hank Williams Jr. was a singer/songwriter and country musician superstar long before he crooned perhaps his most famous line: “Are you ready for some football?”

Now, he is thought of by fans across America whenever they head out to watch a ballgame or cozy up in their living rooms to watch the action on the big screen. And there will be action this weekend in the Bolingbrook/Romeoville area and across the nation as high school and college football teams kick off the season.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FRIDAY: Bolingbrook plays at Hinsdale Central (7:30 p.m., Aug. 30). Hinsdale South is at Romeoville (7 p.m., Aug. 30).

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SATURDAY: Southern Illinois is at Illinois (11 a.m., Aug. 31/Big Ten Network); Northern Illinois is at Iowa (2:30 p.m., Aug. 31/Big Ten Newtwork); Temple at Notre Dame (2:30 p.m., Aug. 31/NBC-TV); Northwestern is at California (9:30 p.m., Aug. 31/ESPN2).

Not a fan of high school or college ball? Well, you’ll have to wait until Sunday, Sept. 8, to watch the Bears. Or do you prefer the hated-Packers?
