Sign of the Times: Christkindlmarket Opens Tuesday on Daley Plaza

Before you know it, the weatherman will be tracking Santa’s sleigh en route from the North Pole.

In the meantime, you have time to enjoy the annual Christkindlmarket Chicago, a traditional German holiday market on Daley Plaza that opens Nov. 26 and runs through Dec. 24. Admission is free. Hours of operation: Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The market features 56 vendors from around the world who display hand-crafted ornaments, toys and unique holiday gifts as well as traditional German foods, sweets and beverages. Information: www.christkindlmarket.com.

LUKANCIC MATH NIGHT: Sixth-grade parents are invited to Romeoville Lukancic Middle School’s “S’more Fun with Math” Parent Night on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The event runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will be filled with a variety of activities designed to give parents an idea of what their children are doing in the classroom, according to a Valley View School District news release. S’mores and hot chocolate will be served.
