Photos: Food Pantry Finds New Home

The Shepherd's Food Pantry celebrates its new home at the United Presbyterian Church.

Shepherd's Pantry, a food pantry serving the Romeoville area, celebrated its in its new home at  after making the move from . Jean Lees, original founder of the pantry in 1992, was on hand to cut the ribbon. Kim Hanahan and Teresa Linaweaver, co-coordinators of the event, were there to welcome guests.

The pantry receives regular food donations from Target stores in Romeoville and Plainfield. Other donations come from the annual and the Dominick's food drives. The pantry also purchases food items from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

A joint effort of United Presbyterian and Good Shepherd Church, the food pantry distributes essentials to area residents from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m the second and fourth Saturdays of each month and 6 to 8 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month.
