More than 80,000 pounds of food were distributed to hundreds of area residents during Jan. 14 event at Mongo McMichael's.

On Saturday, hundreds of cars lined up outside in Romeoville, and it wasn't just to watch a game or grab a quick dinner.

Residents turned out for the restaurant's first , coordinated by the Joliet-based Hands of Hope Ministries. The organization helped provide more than 550 boxes and over 80,000 pounds of food to area residents in need, according to Mongo McMichael's owner Stavros Spandonidis.
