Meet Kicia

The 10-week-old kitten is being cared for by Romeoville Humane Society volunteers and could use a good home.

Kicia (pronounced key-cha) means kitty in Polish. We had to take her and her mama in when she was only a couple weeks old to keep her safe, so she was always "the baby" to us so we were having a hard time naming her. When the nice people who found brought him to us, the lady suggested that we name her Kicia, one of her favorite cat names — and we liked the name too.

Kicia is now around 10 weeks old. She has short, shiny black hair with a little bit of white hair inside her ears. It took her awhile to adjust to being in the house and away from her mama, but she was soon running and playing with the other kittens.

She can still be a bit shy and will run and hide if something startles her or scares her ... but that doesn't last long at all these days. She is not as bold as the other kittens, and it takes her a little longer to get up the courage to try something on her own, but she's curious and loves to play so that doesn't stop her for long.

Kicia seems most comfortable in the company of the other kittens, especially Miracle. She likes it if our adult cat is around too. She was really scared of our small dogs at first but she is kind of used to them being around now and doesn't let them keep her from going anywhere or doing anything now, but will still hiss and run if they get too in her face.

These days she comes and wants some attention of her own and seems to really be getting into being held and petted ... and purring! She is not a lap cat but likes to nap near you, especially if there is a fuzzy throw to lay on. She seems to be changing into quite a little sweetheart lately but she has no problem sticking up for herself either.

Kicia is litterbox trained and we are working on the house training. She seems like she would do better in a quieter home. She doesn't like to be in the middle of too much action.
