Gold Ring Found in Humane Society Donations; Group Seeking Owner

The Romeoville organization found the jewelry while sorting through the money they collected two weeks ago at Weber and Airport roads.

Either way you look at this story, it's a likely bet there's someone out there with a broken heart.

The symbol of that heartache: a gold ring found in among the money collected by the Romeoville Humane Society two weeks ago in an intersection fundraising drive at the intersection of Airport and Weber roads in .

The event was held July 13 to 15, in conjunction with a pet adoption fair being conducted at Petco, according to humane society President Tisha McGary. Whoever deposited the ring was either coming into or out of the shopping areas on either side of Weber or heading down Weber en route to a different location, she said.

We are left to guess as to whether the ring accidentally slipped off or was deliberately deposited, perhaps in an "I'll-show-you" fit of anger.

Either way, the humane society would like to reunite it with its owner, McGary said. It's heart-shaped and bears an inscription on the inside of the band.
