“It’s been going well,” said Megan Ziller of the Romeoville Humane Society. As the event drew to a close, the organization has finalized one adoption and lined up foster homes for three other pets. Several other adoptions were in the works pending a home visit, Ziller said.

Ziller said volunteers are hard at work raising money to help the humane society purchase its own building. For now, the organization relies on volunteer foster families to house its pets.

“We really need cat fosters right now,” she said. Not only is it kitten season, according to Ziller, but the humane society has also received numerous adult cats from area pounds in recent weeks.
