Traffic on Route 53 in Romeoville Congested Because of Truck Weighing Operation

Motorists are advised to allow extra time or pick an alternate route.

Illinois State Police are pulling trucks off northbound Route 53 this morning in Romeoville and using a portable scale to check the weight of the trucks, according to a spokesman at the state police office in Joliet.

As a result, traffic may be snarled in the area for a brief time period. Motorists are advised to allow extra time or pick an alternate route.

Are you kidding? It's been backed up every single day since the construction started!

And I'm hearing today is even worse than normal. Why weigh the trucks on Friday?

It has been atrocious all summer while under construction, then the construction is FINALLY over and then they pull this! And not just one lane, BOTH Northbound lanes were closed and cars going through were being routed into the left turn area. And all at 7AM when people are on their way to work! Ridiculous!
