Free Movie Night will Feature 'Cars 2'

Romeoville's Parks and Recreation Department will host the event Friday night at Deer Crossing Park

Bring the entire family out for a night under the stars, featuring games and activities ‑ and a free movie, too.

The Village of Romeoville’s Parks and Recreation Department will present “Cars 2” this Friday, June 8, at , 1050 W. Romeo Road.

The 2011 animated Disney-PIXAR production, which features the voices of Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy and Michael Caine, tells the story of race car Lightning McQueen and his pal, Mater, as they compete in the World Grand Prix race. The film is rated G.

Pre-movie activities will begin at 8 p.m., and in keeping with the “Cars 2” theme, the recreation department will furnish supplies so kids can decorate their very own child-sized car to sit in while they watch the film.

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and settle in to watch “Cars 2” on the big screen. The movie will begin promptly at 9:15 p.m., and light refreshments will be available for purchase.

In the event of rain, the movie will be rescheduled for Sunday, June 10.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the next free Friday night movies. The classic children’s favorite, “Charlotte’s Web” will be shown July 13, and “Puss ‘N Boots” will light up the screen Aug. 24.
