CrackerJacks Host Military All-Stars Team

Teams will meet in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. at Brennan Field at Lewis University in Romeoville

The Will County CrackerJacks will play host to the United States Military All-Stars at 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, in a marquee exhibition matchup at at Lewis University in Romeoville. 

Over the last two decades, the United States Military All-Stars have put together ball clubs for its historic “Red, White and Blue Tour,” which travels the nation and has made appearances globally as well. 

Armed Forces and First Responders participate while off-duty to support the brave men and women who serve the United States overseas. The majority of the participants have been deployed in direct support of the Global War on Terrorism.

Since 1990, more than 25,000 men and women serving on Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, ROTC, Service Academy, Delayed Entry Program, Wounded Warriors, Amputees, Veterans and First Responders have dressed for the “Red, White and Blue Tour” alongside Major League Baseball
alumni such as Jeff Kent, Bob Feller, Tommy John and Wade Boggs. 

“This is a great opportunity for the team and the community,” said CrackerJacks President and General Manager Jamie Toole. “I really think this is one of the highlights of our 2012 season schedule.”

Tickets for the game are available through www.crackerjacksbaseball.com, by calling the CrackerJacks at 815-704-2255 or by emailing info@crackerjacksbaseball.com.

Each general-admission ticket is priced at $9.11, and a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Wounded Warrior Fund.

Free tickets for veterans, active duty military

U.S. veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families can obtain free tickets for the June 29 game through Operation Welcome You Home, an area organization that provides, upon request of families, joyous homecomings for returning soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and coast guardsmen, as well as supportive sendoffs for members of the military who are being deployed.

The group will also, upon request, stand in honor for a fallen hero who has given the ultimate sacrifice or for a veteran who has served our country.

On June 29, Operation Welcome You Home will take part in an American Flag line on the field before the game begins at Brennan Field.
