Two Lewis Men's Golfers Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars

The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announcedon Wednesday (July 24) that Lewis University men's golfers Harrison Carmichael(Bloomington, Ind. /Edgewood) and Brandon White (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek)have each been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.
 
"I'm very pleased that two such hard-working and goal driven student-athletes have been recognized by the GCAA for their achievements both on the course and in the classroom," Lewis head men's golf coach Skip Steffey said. "Brandon and Harrison were great role models for our team and had wonderful success, both on the course and in the classroom." 
 
Carmichael, a special education major with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, averaged a score of 75.8 over 26 rounds during the 2012-13 season. He earned All-Conference status when he finished fifth at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championships with a score of 218 (75-69-74), which helped the Flyers into the match-play round. Carmichael was also a two-time Academic All-GLVC and Delahanty Award honoree for academic excellence among Lewis student-athletes.
 
White turned in a 75.6 stroke average over 25 rounds this season to help his Flyers to a runner-up finish at the GLVC Championships in April.  His best individual highlight came at the Midwest Regional #2 where he finished third overall with a score of 148 (73-75). 

With a 3.91 semester grade point average in political science, White earned his fourth Delahanty Award as well as his fourth Academic All-GLVC selection. The Sellersburg, Ind., native is also a two-time president of Lewis' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.74. In June, White was named the 2012-13 GLVC Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's golf. He will pursue his master's degree at Indianapolis, where he will serve as a graduate assistant coach for the golf team.
 
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 78.0, and maintain a minimum cumula­tive grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
