Lukancic's Run Comes to an End

Lukancic seventh-grade’s great run through basketball regionals come to an end.

Top-seeded Hufford Junior High of Joliet won its 20th game of the season Friday afternoon, clipping second-seeded Lukancic Middle School 48-38 in the IESA seventh-grade regional at Washington Junior High in Joliet.

Lukancic (12-13) looked to be in great shape early, starting out on an 8-0 run, but turnovers turned the lead into a seven-point deficit by halftime. The lead was nine after three periods ands Hufford never looked back even though the Lukancic squad  played hard right to the end.

Destin Whitaker had 8 points including a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Joe Vasquez also had 8 points. Julio Cajigas and Anthony Perez each had 6 points. Zach Miller had a strong defensive game and led the team in rebounds.

Other team members include Nathan Martinez, Quevan Brown, Johathan Perez,  Christian Marin, Joe Selby, Doyle Tunnat, Robert Aguilar, and Michael Ziegler.

They are coached by Jason Pick.
