Girls Basketball: Romeoville Rallies To Eliminate Lockport

Romeoville 54, Lockport 44. Kiera Currie scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as a fourth-quarter charge helped the Spartans overcome Lockport.

The Hot Read: After stumbling through the middle quarters of Tuesday's game against Lockport, the Romeoville Spartans stormed through the fourth quarter, putting up 21 points in the period and erasing what was at one point a seven-point deficit to win 54-44. Romeoville, which held an edge after the end of the first quarter, found itself tied climbing out of a hole because of sluggish play in the second and third quarters. The Porters and Spartans were tied at 33 late in the third quarter, but from that point forward, the Spartans outscored the Porters 28-11.

Patch's MVP: Kiera Currie's 24-point, 10-rebound double-double paced the Spartans to the come-from-behind win. The sophomore anchored the paint by adding two blocks and a steal.

Key Stats: Lockport's Gintare Surdokaite scored 15 of her team's first 18 points. The Spartans outscored the Porters 21-9 in the fourth quarter.
